Youri Spindler received his training at the Hochstein School of Dance (Rochester, NY), Nutmeg Conservatory (Torrington, CT), Next Generation Ballet (Tampa, FL) The Draper Center (Rochester, NY) and Centro Prodanza (Havana, Cuba). In 2013, he joined the Rochester City Ballet where he danced in many ballets, including The Nutcracker, Jeff Tyzik’s Images, Cinderella, The Ugly Duckling and George Balanchine’s Serenade. In 2016, he became one of the first Americans dancers to train in Cuba since the Cuban Revolution, where he studied with Laura Alonso at her school, ProDanza, and performed with Ballet Laura Alonso in Havana. This is Youri’s second season with New York State Ballet. He has performed in the New York State Ballet’s Carmen and original productions of Carmina Burana and Dracula, Alice in Wonderland, the Snow Queen, and various roles in The Nutcracker. He also performed as Figaro in the NYSB’s original production of The Marriage of Figaro and in Mozart’s Requiem.
