New York State Ballet Graduate Program
Preparing Students for a Professional Career in the Field of Dance
The New York State Ballet is proud to introduce our new Graduate Program. This program is a stepping stone from student to professional dancer, with support from our highly trained faculty and guidance from our Company dancers who have gone through the process. Led by our Graduate Program Director Lauren Tenney alongside Artistic Director Katherine Johnson and Assistant Artistic Director Robert Royce, our goal is to challenge and develop emerging artists through intensive training and personalized attention, to help them grow and mature in their craft as they work to become professionals.
Training for the Future
Members in the Graduate Program will dance between 20 - 25 hours per week, mirroring the New York State Ballet Company schedule with additional dance training tailored to fulfill student needs. Graduates will be frequently cast in full- length NYSB productions and performances, a process integral to dance education. The New York State Ballet believes in providing dancers with a well-rounded education, including instruction in contemporary dance training in addition to daily ballet technique and pointe classes.
This elite program is audition only. Video auditions are accepted for the first round, in studio auditions preferred and will determine placement. The season run concurrent to the NYSB Company season, August through May. Yearly tuition is $5000.
Graduate Program Classes begin Sept. 3, 2019.
* Audition fees, travel expenses, and competition entry fees are not included.
