
LAUREN TENNEY
Graduate Program Director
Lauren Tenney began her professional training at the Nutmeg Conservatory of the Arts, where she was given the prestigious Donna Neri Award for her dedication and commitment to the art form.
She continued her training with Ellison Ballet Professional Training Program in New York City. Under the direction of Edward Ellison. Lauren won awards at Youth America Grand Prix as well as receiving a personal invitation to study year round at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Russia.
Lauren danced professionally with Lexington Ballet, Rochester City Ballet and New York State Ballet. She danced title roles that include Giselle, Swanhilda in Coppelia, Dark Angel in Serenade, Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, and the Odalisque Pas De Trois from Les Corsair, as well as having several pieces created on her.
While dancing professionally Lauren began teaching and choreographing. She has won several awards for her original works and has been recognized for her attention to detail in the classical training she gives her students.
Lauren currently serves as the Grad Director for New York State Ballet, as well as the junior coach for the training academy.
